Things the Matron Cannot Reconcile

Beach volleyball as an Olympic event

Opening Ceremonies for Olympic Beach Volleyball which have distinctly different tone than the OTHER opening ceremonies the whole world saw

Mortality. She doesn't have a picture for that one.

The 2000 Presidential elections. And 2004. Here he is with some of those Olympian beach volleyball players. Can't they hit a ball wearing a one piece?

The Simpsonathon, Day 4. Don't 12 year old boys need sunshine? Two seasons to go, tomorrow.

But, the low slung male bathing suits really help in speed...and lustful thoughts.

I can understand a smaller top, but what's wrong with a pair of shorts? They could at least wear something that doesn't require a Brazilian wax. I wonder if they have a team asthetician.

I just can't figure out how they keep the bottoms in place? Is there some kind of rubberized tape on the seams?

It does seem unfair that the men don't dress in something just as skimpy, or that the women don't cover up more. However, I would like to know if their uniforms are sanctioned, or if it's a choice that the players have made, and if they could choose more coverage if they wanted it? And if it's their choice, should the rest of us lighten up about it? (The men probably aren't complaining, and I can't say it hurts my feelings to watch men's diving (even less coverage).

I will say that watching women's volleyball makes me want to exercise more. :-)

Yea, what cheri said. Word.

Except the 16 year old is not watching the Simsonathon - he's watching The History Channel.

Well, okay, it's a cartoon on the History Channel, but still. ;-)

yes, and the female gymnists - to me, their suits seem a bit skimpier, especially from the back!

Aw, Matron, don't knock the V-ball.

I used to play beach doubles volleyball in an all-men's league. (Because I'm a giantess).

And it was really fun, and beach volleyball players are in ridiculous good shape, so don't be hatin' on the bodylicious pride.

I'd be wearing butt floss in twenty seconds if I had even HALF of my beach volleyball body nowadays. :-)
