The Sedentary Type

The Matron's brain cells have been shocked into an official frost-bitten funk. The temperature? Has not risen above zero since Monday. Check your calendars, people. Tomorrow, she wakes to the second -25 below day a in a row. Now you know what "When Hell freezes over means."

She curses her ancestors who settled here? Daily.

Move?

And get an airplane?

She doesn't think so. Passive aggression has served her well for, lo, these many decades. She thinks she'll just mutter and curse.

I remember the year we were in Rhode Island and it just would not stop being cold. I thought the thermometer had frozen. Every morning felt as if I were trapped in the movie Groundhog's Day. Good luck.

I'm sorry. You must be miserable.
I'll stop complaining about by measly temps. At least we got to two above yesterday.
Stay safe and warm.

I wish I could send you some of our unseasonable heat.

I will try very, very hard to blow some warm air your way, but it might take a few days to get there. Hang in there. And having spent a winter in Omaha. NE, I daily bless the ancestors who left the fjords of Sweden and South Dakota to settle on the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

I like to think of these extreme cold snaps as the cleansers. These temps are why we don't have to regularly shake our shoes to extract the odd scorpion. It's also why we don't have wee bitty lizards crawling on our walls. It's also why we don't see cockroaches the size of dollar bills walking down the sidewalk like they own the place.

Our indoor/outdoor thermometer wasn't working yesterday because it can't display a two-digit number and a negative sign. It told us it was above zero -- until it warmed up to 9 below.

It was -26℉ at 9:30 this morning at my house, neener, neener. Er, that should be brrrr, brrrrr.

This probably isn't the best time to mention that we've had consistent temps in the 70's down here in South MS. Being passive aggressive is one of my specialties! :)

I remember the year I lived upstate and it snowed for four months straight. The day it got above zero we had a block party and played volleyball in our shirt sleeves. Not above freezing, mind you, just above zero.

Certainly, this weather has provided you with the occasion to wear some gorgeous sweaters?

OOOhhhh.... you have my sympathy, I will offically stop whining about 4 degrees. There are just some places that I don't want to live in during the Winter months... and this is one of them! Maybe if I could have all my groceries and errands ran by someone else, and have someone walk the dog. (I guess I should really start buying lotto tickets!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
