You Too Can be a Community College Teacher

The Matron just HAD to share this with her readers!  This is one of her all time favorite John Cheever stories, read by the fabulous Richard Ford.

Chills, girlfriends!

Do you have a link to online literature you love--a story or reading or other experience?  The Matron is teaching Introduction to Literature, online.    She's open (uh, desperate?) for ideas to snazz up her class.

Enjoy the ice and rage that is John Cheever. . . .

How about the only known recording of Virginia Woolf?

Teaching lit online is SOOOO fun; there's no back of the room, and so you don't have the same five people always talking. EVERYONE participates, and the posts can be so wonderful.

I generally do a search for each individual work we're reading, as there are various study guides and interpretations out there, along with author Websites. Another option, if this is the first time you're teaching it online: have the students do presentations, and then THEY put in the time cruising the Web for good sites and then, as part of the presentation, list those sources (for you!).

Okay, so hi!

This was fantastic. Your students are lucky to have you.

I find book-a-minute to be incredibly snazzy. But, perhaps that is only funny if you are already 'into' it:
