The Reviews Are In

And?

They could be better.  At least there was no Suckification, but Ramona -- and the rest of the child leads -- have been deemed 'functional' in one and the tepid 'appealing' in the other.

While the Matron would have preferred a straight dose of Ramona Adulation, she guesses being 'functional' at an internationally renown theatre - at 10 -- will just have to suffice.

She wonders what Scarlett will think when she reads them?

I blame the director.

The reviewers are clearly coming down with swine flu.

At least no suckification.

I think appealing is pretty wonderful. Functional? That is snarky...just cross it out.

Actually, Ramona spends MUCH of the first act standing around or sitting and listening, which renders her oddly passive. Not Scarlett's fault. But the swine flu thing works for her, too!!

Exactly who are these reviewers? They just don't get it.

Those who can, do. Those who can't...review??

I thought she was delightful, as did the 100 2nd graders I went with.

Would you believe it - I know Dominic Papatola who wrote the review for the SPPP! I can't wait to see the show this weekend to prove that Scarlett is far more "appealing" than his 1982 high school performance of John the Baptist in Godspell.

Critics’ suck! Every movie that has been review and revered by some critic turns out to be horrible, while those great movies they trash turn out to be real treasures. Plays can be tricky to judge too, it’s live, no time for retakes or editing room primping…straight from the heart and different each and every time. No matter the tedious rehearsals, hours of practice, nerves and worry—it’s live! And it doesn’t get any better than that.

Hey, little brother. He liked her in the Miracle Worker, though. But in all honesty, the adults in that performance are amazing. THey do steal the show!

Hmmmm. . . .thanks for the Godspell info. Black mail material for the future!
