The King of the Dogs Died . . .

is the song Merrick has been singing lately. Yesterday, I told Merrick that the whole family was going to be home for dinner.

He said, "No we're not. Thurston's not here."

Thurston would have turned 15 years old this month. Here he is, his Regal Self, and the day before our first dog (unable to walk, stand, eat, poop and in terrible pain even while staggeringly over-medicated) was put to sleep.

Now he rests, here.

What a beauty. I love dogs, and I'm sure Thurstan was a good one.
I lost my beloved Dalmatian, Bella, three years ago, and I miss her snorfling kisses and unflagging love each time I walked through the door...she was happy to see me every single time.

He was a beautiful dog. It is so sad to lose a pet. Like you, I have some that I still miss even though they have been gone years.

what a beautiful dog. We had a furry family member that left us this year too, and he is missed especially around the holidays.

Awwww, poor Thurston. I'm so sorry you had to put him down. I never saw his younger pictures--what a pretty dog! Such a sweetheart, too. I'll miss seeing him when we're over to pick up CSA veggies.
